Jessica Mather, Founder & Top Dog
Welcome! My name is Jessica and I am the founder of Pet Pals. I currently live in Roanoke, VA with my family of 4 and pets, Francy, Sandy and Lilo. I am originally from Texas, but relocated to Roanoke after making my way through Dallas, Cincinnati and Philadelphia working in office management. My husbands job moved us to this quant and beautiful town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains that I have absolutely fallen in love with and now call my home in Roanoke VA.
Soon after moving to Roanoke, Pet Pals LLC was born.
I’ve always loved animals for as long as I can remember. I am very passionate about animals of ALL shapes and sizes. I went into this business because I love to travel but traveling became so stressful as a pet owner having to leave them behind. I had so much anxiety dropping them off at an unfamiliar place without all the comforts of home. I soon realized that I could make a difference in their lives as well as their owners by making owning a pet less stressful or “guilt-free” when leaving town or working a long day away from home.
Being able to give people peace of mind when they leave is how this all started. Giving the pets the opportunity to stay in the comfort of their own homes whether you have to leave town or just work a long day at the office. We relieve guilt and eliminate any rush by coming to your home and sending you instant updates on your pets well being with pictures of them living their best lives!
In March 2009, we welcomed our first “human baby” our daughter into our lives and 3 short years later we welcomed our son.
I started Pet Pals as a one man show. It was just me working from sun up to sun down. After having kids I realized that if I wanted to be present for my family and run a successful business all at the same time, I needed a team. Right now we are a team of 10 dog walkers and pet sitters. I would hire any member of my team to come to my home and take care of my pets while I am away.
February 2024, we celebrated 21 YEARS in business!!
We have all our wonderful clients to thank for all the success we have had. We are still going strong and constantly working to improve and make this the best dog walking & pet sitting company that Roanoke and its surrounding areas has to offer.
We are taking on new clients and would love to welcome you to our Pet Pals family!
Thanks for visiting and please read about our phenomenal team below!!
Cheers!
Jessica

Hi! My name is Brittany. I’ve been an animal lover all of my life and knew that any career I wanted would involve animals. I have been working in veterinary medicine for over a decade now, but my true passion lies in pet sitting, rescue work and rehabilitation. I love being immersed in nature, hiking, paddle boarding, working out and I really enjoy listening to live music. My favorite way to spend my time is exploring with my husband and our dogs. I appreciate your trust with your furry family member and look forward to meeting you and your pets.
Hi, I am Sarah! I have been with Pet Pals for 11 years! I am the proud pet Mom to 2 dogs and 5 cats! I love spending time outdoors with my dogs. We like to hike, swim and go out for pup cups. I also love spending time inside with my dogs and cats watching tv and looking out at our bird, squirrel and chipmunk feeders. I love being a pet sitter because I get to meet so many different pets and I enjoy the opportunity to allow others to enjoy time away from home with the knowledge that their pet is being well cared for.
Hi, I’m Amy! I have lived in Roanoke for 42 years. I am married and have one daughter. We currently have 2 dogs, 1 cat and some chickens. In my spare time I like gardening and just being outside. I have worked for Pet Pals for almost 3 years and really enjoy getting to meet all the animals!
Hi, I’m Erin! I joined the Pet Pals team in June 2024. I consider myself very lucky – I get to work with animals in most aspects of my life! In addition to Pet Pals, I work at a local animal shelter (started in 2021) and foster kittens in my free time (over 50 foster pets since 2018). I specialize in fostering animals with specific needs – whether those needs are daily medications, incontinence, recovering from illness or surgery, or simply a very shy temperament.
I live in Roanoke with my spouse, our two pets: a dog named Tito and a cat named Thomas, and a parade of fostered friends. In my free time, I love hiking, reading, and embroidery. I look forward to meeting your pets!
Hi! I’m Barb, I have been with Pet Pals since 2015! My husband and I came to live in Roanoke for our retirement where we love our 2 rescue dogs, Greta the German Wirehair Pointer and Wyatt the German Shorthair Pointer. When I am not snuggling my dogs, I enjoy making stained glass, walking with friends and visiting local breweries.
